Not that it was my idea, mind you.
Let me start at the beginning. That would be Saturday. Things were fine, the sun was shinning, and life was good. We were planning on going to home fellowship the next day, I had the meal I was to take in the crock in the fridge, and the alarm was set.
Hubby and I sat down for our nightly ritual of hot tea and end of the day conversation, when it hit me.
Like a ton of bricks.
My house was not homey at all. As I recall saying, “It looks like a college dorm room…you know, where no one really cares…”
And I lost it. I was in tears, crying about how my house was cluttered, a mess, totally dusty (hey! I am on a first name basis with some of them bunnies!) and how I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Hubby promised me that the next day, after fellowship, we would get the house rearranged and do some work together on it. He’s so nice like that. Probably wanted to make sure that I really dusted this time, but that’s beside the point.
My Lil’ Bit woke up and was coughing and hacking so hard that I thought he was going to throw up. He was crying and wanted “MaawMa”, so I knew that he needed rest. Well, rest he got. He went back to bed and slept until 1:30 that afternoon!!! Needless to say, we didn’t go to fellowship that morning, which I missed terribly.
Author side note here: Why do people say “needless to say” and then proceed to say it anyway?
So, the kids and I let hubby sleep as well, and we got to work. We moved bookshelves, furniture and the computer desk out of the living room and the dust bunnies were rapidly evicted from the previously loving home. Hubby hooked up the computer in the “school room” and we cleaned off the desk; dust, papers, clutter, and all.
Of course, since Hubby is a computer geek through and through, and since he is also a perfectionist, he decided that it was high time to redo the network. He explained what he was going to do in geek-eese, and I just nodded my head and smiled, like always. What I didn’t understand was that I was going to be without my internet connection for a couple of days.
What a tragedy!!! No Facebook, no email!! How was I ever to survive? I tried getting the wifi from the local ISP in town where Hubby works, and I had to stand on my head and balance the laptop on the dog’s tail to get a connection. So, that was only for “emergencies” like getting ahold of my dear friends…which I still didn’t do very often.
It wasn’t all bad, though, really. I got a new binder system going, new chore charts for the kids, and schoolwork done on time each day this week. (My kids NEVER want me to be without internet again, by the way…they are exhausted!) And I got some ME time in for workouts as well.
So, maybe it’s good that the wireless is still not working as of tonight and I have to use my son’s computer. He may fight me for it, and with his experience in TaeKwonDo, I will have to just back down….

I completely understand! We just moved and I went an entire week with out the internet – it was painful lol! I went to Panera Bread at every chance I could to check stuff and post blogs!!! It was also nice to be free of it though!!! But I’m still digging my way out of boxes AND website emails ugh!

We have had spotty internet for about a year now. I still enjoy getting online and connecting with people (which is most of what my internet time is). I don’t waste time playing games or surfing the web. There have been times in my life when I have to admit that I have spent too much time online with one thing or another. I actually am a much happier person when my internet time is limited. I keep my house cleaner, my kids happier, and my hubby healthier (sorry, Had to have another word that ‘fit’ there and that’s the only one that I could come up with, but you get my meaning I’m sure. . .)
