Melissa J’s Thoughts
What a fun CD! It caught my attention immediately and my daughter (2 years old) and two daycare children (2 and 3 1/2) began vigorously doing that cute, awkward toddler dancing as soon as the music came on.That’s how catchy Ross’s music is! The very first song, Happy To Be Me (click to listen) is fun, catchy, and exceptionally well recorded for this being a private, independant artist! With lyrics like:
You give me giggles
Cuz you’re really funny
Sometimes I laugh
Til it hurts my tummy . . .
I love you more, than all the water in the ocean,
More than all the pieces in the puzzle,
More, the kind that makes me want to snuggle. . .
*More*
No one likes the sound of whining,
Whining makes you want to plug your ears and run away
Everything sounds better when you’re smiling
So no more whining today.
You have bad days, sad days, make you mad days,
You don’t get your way
You wanna cry and lose your temper
You gotta stop, and smile, and try to remember. . .
No one likes the sound of whining,
Whining makes you want to plug your ears and run away
Everything sounds better when you’re smiling
So no more whining today.
*The Sound of Whining*
Songs are not only fun, they are also bursting at the seams with life lessons for children. What better way to send them home to their hearts than via upbeat music that is sure to attract any child. This is a CD that is worth every penny you put into it. In fact, you will love it so much, you might as well buy a few while you’re at it, because they’re going to make great gifts for birthdays and Christmas’s!
Mel’s Thoughts:
This CD is hilarious and oh so much fun to listen to in the car, during down time parts of school, etc. We love Ross King, even though before this, I had never heard of him. I am so glad that we got to review this particular CD because we were missing out before; just sayin’. Words That Rhyme With Orange is a cute, yet hip, CD for kids and even parents. I found myself wanting to get up and dance around the room with my kids. Here is a listing of the songs included on this CD:
- Happy to Be Me
- Juicebox
- If I Wasn’t So Cute
- Lionmonkeyacondonkey
- More
- Learning My Alphabet
- The Food Trying Song
- Afrikiddo Romp
- The Sound of Whining
- I Like to Play Outside
- Don’t Do It
- Sleepyhead
- Naomi’s Lullabye
The songs are catchy, and they’re wonderful for kids, leaving no worries about letting my kids listen to their hearts’ content. The style of the music almost reminds me of one of our favorites, Laurie Berkner….only with Ross, I feel like a kid again, listening to the songs. You can definitely hear the kid in his lyrics and in the beats and instruments. My favorite song is definitely Happy to Be Me, which has a wonderful message for kids everywhere. Of course, Jacob loves the song about not eating his bugars, Don’t Do It. LOL Some of the songs are silly, but they all carry a message, and I can tell you that we’ll be listening to this CD in the car for a good, long while. If you’d like to hear some of Ross’s songs, check out his MySpace page, where you can get a glimpse of what’s on the CD. He also has a blog you can check out.
Worship CD’s are also available by Ross King
I was also given the chance to listen to Ross’s worship CD. I am pretty “critical” when it comes to music. As a music lover, and someone who loves praise and worship music that escorts me to the throne of heaven, I wondered how good it would be. The first five measures of the first song (see below) carried me away spiritually.
This is a music CD that fills my heart and soul with thoughts of God and moves me to true worship. Ross King has found a place in my music CD library as a person who thrives on worship music and those who love worship will want to check him out.
