Covermate Covers

Melissa J’s Thoughts

I won’t be returning to saran wrap. Ever!

Why would I, now that I’ve discovered CoverMate’s Stretch-to-Fit Food Covers?! They have been in my house for less than a week and so far I have used them to cover

~ A half eaten yogurt

~ Cut up onion and shredded cheese bowls for tacos

~ One large round casserole dish

~ One small brownie pan

~ One large pan of soup

~ One bowl of food that I couldn’t finish

My variety pack came with 1 small can cover, 4 medium covers, 4 large covers, and 2 extra large covers and they have all gotten mileage. I haven’t needed to clean any of them, but if I did, it’d be an easy process. Drying might not be so easy because of the gathers (water droplets might gather and not escape) but even if cleaning and drying them became too time consuming, they would be worth spending the money on new boxes. Seriously! That’s how in love with these Food Covers I am.

One of the things I like about them is they wrap around the bowl so nicely, even if the cover seems like it’s going to be too large for it. I think this is because of the patented technology these covers have, with the built in flex band. The CoverMate’s Stretch-to-Fit Food Covers look round but have corners for square and rectangular dishes as well.

Although many of the products I review, I like, there are very few that I turn around and immediately go buy  more of. But I have with these. I like them so much I don’t think I could ever have enough. This is something I wish I had come up with, but since I didn’t, I’ll be appreciating the fact someone else did!

Mel’s Thoughts:

I have to say that Dan and I are enjoying our CoverMate Food Covers.  These handy covers are easy to store, easy to use, and easy to care for.  We received a variety pack with 3 different sizes and 10 covers altogether.  There were 4 medium covers (fits 4″ to 9″), 4 large covers (fits 9″ to 14″), and 2 extra large covers (fits 14″ to 19″).  They are both small and large enough to fit our containers, from our small plates and Rubbermaid containers to our casserole dishes and cake pans.  I haven’t tried them on a serving platter, but they would be perfect for that, as well.I get so tired of fighting the box of plastic wrap.  Either it won’t roll out without the whole roll coming out, or it won’t stick to the sides of my dishes and protect the food well enough.  Plus, it’s wasteful and gets used up very quickly, especially when it takes 2 sheets to cover my casserole dishes, which is the main reason I need plastic wrap in the first place.  Now I don’t have to fight anymore, though.  The CoverMate Covers stretch to fit the dish, and with the elastic band around the edge, they stay tightly to the dish, giving the needed protection to the food.  We actually tried ours on a pan of brownies, and it worked great.  The brownies stayed nice and fresh for 3 days, which is how long we had them before they were gone.

I did not know this at first, and I kind of dreaded washing these covers, as they are reusable….but they are dishwasher safe!!!  How awesome is that?!  Plus, they’re microwave safe.  They have little vents that let the steam out while in the microwave.  In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with reusable, fit to dish covers. Like any dish covered with plastic wrap, you can’t really stack things on top of it in the fridge (which is why I prefer dishes with lids when possible), but for those times when you need a quick cover, these are awesome!

Right now you can get a sample pack of the CoverMate Food Covers for only the price of S&H, which is $3.95!  Plus, they will send you a $1.00 off coupon for your next purchase.  They are definitely worth trying, in my opinion.  You can follow CoverMate on Twitter and fan them on Facebook, as well.

(Disclosure: We were provided sample packs of CoverMate Food Covers, free of charge, by CoverMate, for the purposes of this review.)
