Interview with Dr. Sears of The Zone Diet

Last week I had the honor and the privilege of interviewing Dr. Barry Sears, founder and author of The Zone and Toxic Fat.  I need to apologize, as the video has some breakups throughout, but for the most part, you can listen and get the gist of what Dr. Sears has to say.

I wanted to really gear the interview towards what we as women and moms can do to help give our families a healthier lifestyle, and Dr. Sears talked a lot about what kinds of foods to eat.  For one thing, eliminating the bad carbs and replacing them with protein.  The diet can be eaten on a low budget with tight finances, but it involves making healthier choices.  It involves a careful balance of carbohydrates, fat, and protein.  I liked how Dr. Sears asked us to think back to what our grandmothers did….back when all of the processed foods weren’t so readily available.

He also talked a lot about silent inflammation, which can be present in any person, even an Olympic athlete.  This silent inflammation could be responsible for much of America’s obesity.  I’ll stop writing, though, and let you listen to the interview for yourself.  What Dr. Sears has to say makes so much sense to me, and even though it’s not going to be easy, I definitely plan to implement portions of his plan in our family’s diet, as we are really wanting to make healthier meals and even exercise more.  I definitely want to experience the energy that he talks about.  Enjoy the interview.
