Having children is one of the most blessed events in our lifetimes as moms….we wait 9 months for that precious baby to come along, and when he/she does, we are left with the aftershocks of pregnancy. I’m talking about the baby fat that we try and try to lose, but it’s often so difficult to lose, especially after multiple children. I myself have started to struggle just a bit with weight, and the persistent belly fat has just got to go! I have a goal to lose 10 pounds before we go on our vacation to Colorado this summer, and with Lindsay Brin’s Shed 5 Fast DVD, plus some walking/running, I think, no….I know it can be done.
Lindsay Brin is a mom herself, and after 4 IVFs, 2 miscarriages, and 2 babies, she too had extra weight to shed. I admire her grit and determination to keep going, even in the face of 2 miscarriages. For me, it’s easy for me to pick up her DVD because I know she’s another mom, right there with me in the battle to lose that post-pregnancy weight. Now, sure, it’s been 2 years since my last baby, but that’s only my own fault.:) However, lately, I’ve started a routine, which includes using the Shed 5 Fast DVD at least twice a week, along with Wii Fit and walking/running outside. I’m still getting my groove in this whole workout thing, but the Shed 5 Fast DVD definitely whips me good every time I use it.
In the Shed 5 Fast DVD, Lindsay has 2 exercise routines set up, and she guarantees that you’ll lose 5 pounds or more in just the first 3 weeks of use. She recommends using the DVD 3 times a week, but for now, I’m using it twice, just because it’s a struggle for me to work out; I don’t like to work out, so I have to keep a bit of variety going, alternating the use of the DVD with my Wii Fit and walking/running routines. The workouts are timed at 30 minutes. You start with a 3 minute warm-up, and then you have 3/3 intervals for 24 minutes. You do 3 minutes of toning (with weights) and 3 minutes of kickboxing, alternating for 24 minutes. Lindsay has it set up so that there are 3 people you can follow; a beginner, an intermediate, and an advanced for those who need more of a challenge. I do a mixture of the 3, just depending on what we’re doing. There is a lot of kicking and punching with the kickboxing….you really work the legs and arms, as well as your “core,” as Lindsay calls it. With toning, you’re working all sides of your body, from your belly to your obliques to your glutes. It’s a full-on workout that will definitely whip you into shape, and I get winded doing it, just from the cardio in the kickboxing, as well as some of the moves in the toning. It’s very easy to follow, although about 3/4 of the way through, I’ll lose it a bit and have to catch up, mainly from being winded or interrupted by my boys. She makes it easy to follow, though, as she gives instructions throughout. I like this because with so many exercise videos, I have such a hard time keeping up. With this, though, I can usually jump right back in, unless I just am so tired I’m not putting my all into it. At the end of the video is a 3 minute cool down period.
For a great workout that will get your body in shape, as well as leave you sweating and out of breath, this DVD is worth every penny. I’m anxious to see what my results will be after keeping up with the routine. You can purchase the Shed 5 Fast DVD for $15.99 from Moms Into Fitness. You can also follow Lindsay Brin on Twitter or Facebook. You can even follow Lindsay’s progress on her blog.
