Ever since Jacob was just a toddler, we’ve come to really love the Laurie Berkner Band. We were first introduced to Laurie on television, as she sang so many songs in between some of Jacob’s favorite shows. Even as adults, Dan and I really liked the music because it wasn’t all “kiddified,” meaning it’s the type of music that both kids and adults can love.
We were ecstatic to receive The Best of the Laurie Berkner Band CD for review. This CD contains the best of the best, the most requested songs from Laurie’s collection. With 20 songs, there is enough music here to fill your car with music on both short and long roadtrips. Here is a listing of the songs:
- Bumblebee (Buzz Buzz)
- Rocketship Run
- Victor Vito
- We Are the Dinosaurs
- I’m Gonna Catch You
- Moon Moon Moon
- Pig On Her Head
- Fast and Slow (The Rabbit and the Turtle)
- I’m Not Perfect
- I Really Love to Dance
- BOOTS
- Five Days Old
- The Goldfish
- Monster Boogie
- Song In My Tummy
- I Know a Chicken
- Under a Shady Tree
- Pig on Her Head (alternate version)
- Moon Moon Moon (alternate version)
- Open Your Heart (NEW Song!)
It’s hard for me to pick just one favorite song; the songs are so colorful, imaginative, and childlike….they inspire the listener’s imagination to soar to new heights. I think if I had to pick just one favorite song, it would probably be Victor Vito, just because it’s catchy and fun to sing back and forth with my boys. Of course, I love Moon Moon Moon too because of the story behind it and how the moon fascinated Laurie as a child. Doesn’t the moon fascinate just about every child who looks up at it with curiosity and wonder?
The new song on the CD, Open Your Heart, was written by Laurie to help benefit The Pajama Program, which helps to provide pajamas and books to needy children, especially those who are going into foster care.
You can purchase The Best of the Laurie Berkner Band CD for $9.99 on Amazon. You can keep up with the band on both Facebook and @LaurieBerkner on Twitter.
