Meet Einstein Review & Giveaway

Dan has always been a science geek, whether he’s watching the latest Discovery shows or experimenting with projects of his own. He’s an inventive thinker; I just know that someday he’s going to invent something that will revolutionize the way we do things. The thing is, he’s really influenced both of our boys, and Jacob is especially interested in science, even saying that some day he wants to be a scientist. He’s definitely got that curious mindset and always wants to figure out how things work. I can see him doing great things some day….and I’m not just sayin’ that because he’s my child.:) I really want to encourage those interests, though. Since the night, not too long ago, that Dan and Jacob watched a show about Einstein, he’s wanted to learn everything he can about the famous scientist. Jaden too shows interest in how things work, even at such a young age, although he’s more interested in tearing things apart.:)

Meet Einstein was written by another mom with a curious child, Mariela Kleiner….I love the story of how she came to write this book. Her daughter actually picked out an advanced book about Einstein (Relativity) and insisted on her mom reading it with her. Of course, Mariela decided to improvise the story so that her child could understand it even better….and that’s how this book came to be. It’s a preschooler’s biography of Albert Einstein and just gives a basic introduction to his life and a couple of things that he studied.

The book is filled with colorful illustrations, more contemporary and very simple in nature, illustrated by Viviana Garofoli. The story delves into light and gravity and how those two things work. It’s very simple and easy to understand. I found that it was fun to have Jaden point out some of the things we were reading about, kinda like an I Spy type of activity. It got him involved in the story and made it come to life for him. At the end of the book is a whole section for parents that tells more about Albert Einstein and also offers discussion questions and facts. Within both covers of the book are illustrated pictures of scientific instruments that a scientist might use for various experiments and adventures.

This book was a fun book to read with Jaden; it’d definitely be a fun book to incorporate simple experiments or activities with, even maybe some crafts.
