Protech Dent Mouth Guard Review & Giveaway

Jacob’s been participating in taekwondo since he was 6 years old. I can’t tell you how many times he’s either lost his mouth guard or forgotten it on his way to a tournament or sparring class. When I had the opportunity to review a new one for him….one that was thinner and customizable to his mouth, I jumped at the opportunity….and I warned Jacob that he canNOT lose this mouth guard.:)

The Protech Dent Mouth Guard is a very thin mouth guard that actually forms to you or your child’s teeth; they come in both adult and child sizes. They have been scientifically tested and are 30% stronger than regular mouth guards. I actually compared Jacob’s old mouth guard with this one, and you can see a noticeable difference.Jacob was able to both talk and drink with this mouth guard in his mouth; he was even halfway understandable….even with his smart mouth in the end.:) Watch how easy it was to fit this mouth guard to Jacob’s teeth; of course, Jacob also gives a bit of his opinion, and we act a little silly. (I will say that we had to fit it to his mouth twice because the first time he hadn’t pushed it up around his teeth good enough for a tight fit….that part was easy, though, because we just stuck the mouth guard back in the hot water, let it re-flatten, and off we went to form it again.)

The Protech Dent Mouth Guard is ISO-certified, made in the U.S.A. As a mom, one thing I like is that it’s been proven to prevent transfer of germs to the mouth….if you’ve ever been to a taekwondo class, you know how truly smelly it is, and you can only imagine the germs that must be festering on the sweaty equipment, mats, etc. (Shivers) I also like the fact that this mouth guard really seems to fit Jacob’s mouth well, and it’s so super thin. It’s not bulky, meaning he doesn’t have to take it in and out every time he wants a drink or needs to say something. Less germs, less risk of laying it down somewhere and losing it….hip hip hooray!

You can purchase the Protech Dent Mouth Guard for $24.99. The child mouth guard is geared toward ages 6-10. I would definitely recommend this mouth guard, although the true test will come when Jacob has to actually use it in a sparring match. It has a $30,000 dental warranty, as well. The great news?! Get Active with Wallie Exercises/Giveaway

In our quest to live a healthier life, we’ve also incorporated healthier foods and more activity into our boys’ lives, as well. Not that they weren’t active before, but now they get outside a bit more, and they are eating snacks that offer much more value in the way of nutrients. Telling them how important it is to exercise is one thing, but actually being able to share with them through picture books, games, and other activities is quite another way.

Wallie Exercises, written by Steve Ettinger, C.S.C.S. and illustrated by Pete Proctor, is a book that brings exercise to the forefront of kids’ minds through a hilarious character named Wallie. Wallie is a dog who’s let his laziness get out of control, until his clothes no longer fit, and he’s quite the pudgy canine. He doesn’t even have the motivation to get up and move. It comes time, though, for Wallie to get up and exercise, though it’s not going to be an easy thing to do. As he discovers other animals working out, Wallie meets Edwin the Exercise Elephant. Edwin is a go-getter, and his mission is to get Wallie up and moving. Wallie has a tough time of it, but eventually, he begins to find his groove. (Wallie actually reminded me much of myself, in beginning my exercise routine.) LOL

The pictures and illustrations in the book are so cute and go quite well with the story, although I felt the story ended a bit abruptly. I was hoping we’d see a bit more of Wallie’s success. The end of the book does contain a few exercises that kids can try for themselves, though, such as the Silly Shark Squat (which is a regular squat, only in kid’s terms), as well as information for kids on exercise, hydration, etc. The exercises are fun for kids and even involve a bit of silliness.:)

You can purchase Wallie Exercises for $12.44 from Amazon. You’ll also find worksheets and activities on the Wallie Exercises website.
