Making Valentines with Angie’s Kettle Corn {Giveaway}

(This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Erin Lawrence on winning this giveaway! Thank you to all who entered.)

Valentine’s Day will soon be here, and kids everywhere are gearing up, creating Valentines and treats for family and friends. This year we decided to do something a little bit different. We went beyond the average mini Valentine in a mini envelope to create tasty Valentines our family will love.We received an Angie’s Kettle Corn Valentine’s Snack Pack that contained 20 treat-sized bags of delicious, gluten-free, allergen-free, cholesterol-free, all-natural kettle corn. Angie’s Kettle Corn is also free of trans-fats, artificial flavors, preservatives, and is certified Kosher. Families of children with peanut allergies don’t have to worry either; the facility is 100% free of peanuts/tree nuts.So, what did we do with these treat-sized bags of delicious sweet and salty kettle corn? And trust me….it is like no other kettle corn I’ve ever had; it’s absolutely de-lish! We created Valentines for the grandparents in our family. The Snack Pack comes with Valentine’s stickers that say To/From, so kids can attach the stickers to the bags, giving a unique and tasty Valentine’s treat. We decided to get a little crafty with it, though.

First, we cut long strips of red/pink construction paper (construction paper not included in snack pack) to use as bag wrappers.We wrapped construction paper strips around each bag and attached with a sticker, labeling each sticker beforehand.

It was easy, simple, and a fun way for the kids to get their craft on. Of course, they also created pictures to include in the packages we’ll send off to each set of grandparents, all while enjoying a bit of popcorn themselves.

Recipe Rock & Cheesy Potato Soup {Giveaway}

For the longest time, I’ve been telling Dan that I need something to hold my recipes. When we were at my friend’s house in Ohio, I noticed that she had a small pull-out shelf for her cookbooks, and I thought that was the neatest thing. In my own kitchen, I’ve been using a clothespin to hook my recipes onto a hanging 3-tier basket we have in our kitchen window (can I hear a wah, wah, wah….). The clothespin on the basket just doesn’t work too well, ’cause if you have to wash your hands, you’re constantly bumping into the paper (since the sink is right there too). Now, I finally have a solution.

The Recipe Rock, from Architec Housewares, is a small, compact way to hold my recipes upright on the cabinet while I’m cooking or baking. When I first saw this little gadget, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. It’s so small! However, after using the Recipe Rock, I’d recommend it as a must have for any kitchen.

How does it work? The Recipe Rock is a small concave, magnetic rock with a metal ball that holds your papers to the rock. You just take the metal ball off the rock, place your papers in between (it can hold 1 or as many as 8 printed papers), and replace the metal ball. Tada! It really does hold your papers upright, within easy view. I love having my papers or magazines (or even recipe cards) up off the cabinet, out of my way when I’m baking, so this is a wonderful tool.  I can be pretty  messy, so it’s a plus in that I’m not making a mess all over my recipes. Just an fyi- I have found that it tends to hold a few papers very well; however, a magazine is a bit thick for it to hold. I also love the fact that the Recipe Rock is easily stored away when not in use, because of its size. It’s so small and compact (about 2 inches). I also love its affordability at $9.99. What a great stocking stuffer idea!

You can purchase the Recipe Rock at Crate & Barrel and other specialty stores. Be sure to Like Architec Housewares on Facebook.Now, I could just tell you all about the Recipe Rock….but I’d rather leave you with a new recipe to try, once you get your own Recipe Rock. This recipe is a cozy soup that’ll be the perfect ending to a frigidly cold day this winter. It’s Cheesy Potato Soup cooked in the slow cooker, simmering all day long, filling your home with all types of cozy, good smells.Even better news?! We’re giving one Recipe Rock to one MamaBuzz reader! Just in time for holiday baking too! You can enter to win by doing one or more of the following; just be sure to leave a separate comment for each way that you enter. I’ll draw the winner, via random.org, on Wednesday, December 14. This giveaway is open to U.S. only (void where prohibited). No purchase is necessary, and the odds of winning are based on a number of entries. Good luck, and have a wonderful day!
