My husband really loves pretzels. When we first started dating, he actually introduced me to real pretzels, soft pretzels, at our local mall back then, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Even now he loves a good pretzel, so introduction to Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels was an exciting thing for both of us, as we’d both never heard of this company that’s been around since 1995.
Just to give you a little background, Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels started in Kim’s small studio apartment kitchen and expanded from there.
Now their pretzels are sold at grocery stores (Albertson’s, Target, Walmart, etc.), at Barnes & Noble, and even on QVC (where they sold 150,000+ pretzels in only 12 minutes when they introduced the product there).
Personally, what I like about these pretzels is that they are a healthier alternative, and they are homemade, twisted by hand. Each and every pretzel is. They are made of all-natural, premium ingredients like whole grains. They have no trans fats and no hydrogenated oils, as well as no preservatives.
They’re made in a nut-free environment and are vegetarian. The fact that each one is twisted by hand is just a quality you don’t normally see in store-bought foods and products. Not only that, but we tried several flavors, and they were so easy to cook; they were microwaveable, cooking in less than a minute in most cases. Of course, you can use the oven if desired, but even that doesn’t take very long, 7 minutes at the most. They were definitely a quick, easy snack when in a hurry. Also, one thing I noticed was that the microwave didn’t make them tough; they were still soft and delicious.
So, what flavors do they carry? They carry an assortment of mouth-watering flavors like Sourdough Asiago, Pizza Pretzel, Twisted Omelette, Spinach Feta Pretzel, Mixed Berry Cobbler, Cinnamon Roll, Original Cheesecake, etc. You can even order Sampler Packs with your favorite flavors. We tried a few different flavors, including the following:
- Grilled Cheese- These pretzels were truly like having a soft grilled cheese sandwich. They were stuffed with real cheddar cheese and had cheese sprinkled on top. They were very flavorful and delicious.
- Pizza Pretzel- This was my absolute favorite flavor of all. The pretzels were delicious, filled with mozzarella cheese and homemade pizza sauce. They also had cheese and Italian spices sprinkled on top, making the flavors come together. These pretzels tasted like a cheese pizza. Being a stuffed pretzel, the filling wasn’t sparse; it was a generous filling throughout the pretzel and was just absolutely yummy.
- Apple Cinnamon- These pretzels were like having an apple pie without all the work. They would go well with some vanilla ice cream. The pretzels were filled with apple pie filling (homemade) and had a crumb topping made of cinnamon and sugar. They were another favorite for us, providing a sweet treat.
- Chocolate Crumb- If you want a richer, sweeter treat, these are the pretzels to try. The pretzels themselves are a chocolate dough, and then they’re filled with a creamy fudge filling. They also have a chocolate crumb top. The pretzels were nice for a chocolate fix, though they were very rich; a whole pretzel was almost too much, even for me. Again the filling is very generous but not too much.
- Cheddar Jalapeno- These pretzels are a spicy fix; Dan liked these and ate them up. They’re stuffed with cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and spices. They have a cheese/jalapeno topping, as well. They were like having Jalapeno Poppers, only in a larger form.
All in all, the pretzels were a delicious treat for us all. The boys really liked the Pizza Pretzels, as did I. I would definitely love to try more flavors, which is why I’ll have to keep my eyes open for them at my local store. Not only that, but another thing about this company is that they are trying to make a difference; you can check out their Pretzels with a Purpose page to see the things they are involved in helping with, including donating pretzels to food banks. I love to help support companies with a passion for making a difference. You can actually buy Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels online, or you can find out where to buy locally.
