The Pretty Peacock ~ Roman Numeral Collection {Jewelry Giveaway}

The holidays are approaching; what better gift to give a mother, grandmother, or even a dad than a beautifully handcrafted piece of jewelry that has a sweet piece of sentimental value? Jewelry with  meaning behind it is one way to capture my heart. Since my boys were born, life has taken on new meaning, and I’ve wanted something with their birthdates….whether it was a necklace, bracelet, or even a ring. I’ve searched occasionally but have never really come upon just the right piece. It has to be something special, something that conveys the message that no matter where I’m at or what I’m doing, they’re always with me….

The Pretty Peacock, founded by Ana Talukder Simpson, offers handcrafted pieces, each piece unique in its own way. They strive to use earth-friendly products, as well, in the creation of their jewelry. They create keepsake jewelry for men, women, or children, for any occasion you can imagine. While browsing around their site, I found beautiful pieces that caught my eye. I love the Latitude Longitude Collection….once we are in our forever home, this is one collection I want to come back to. I do a lot of traveling, so I love the fact that no matter where I go, I would always have that reminder of home, that grounding piece that speaks of the place I’ll always come back to. Since I normally don’t see a lot of jewelry for guys, the Father’s Day Collection also drew me in. They also have pieces for children, including this adorable My Little Monkey Personalized Birthstone Pendant. Finally, one last collection I noticed was the Sanskrit Leather Wrap Bracelets, a beautiful accessory for any outfit.

What’s most exciting is that The Pretty Peacock is introducing a new collection, the Roman Numeral Collection. I actually received a pendant in this collection and am very excited to have the very first product in this line. The jewelry came beautifully wrapped in a small box with tissue paper, ribbon, and all. I felt very special opening it up; the packaging was so beautiful, I didn’t want to open it at first.When I opened it, though, it revealed a necklace with two rectangular pendants that include both of my boys’ birthdates in Roman numerals, as well as very tiny birthstones for each of them. The piece is very delicate but sturdy….I’m not afraid it will break or anything. It just gives that very delicate vibe because of the type of materials used and the handcrafted beauty of the piece. The pendants are on a shorter type of chain necklace, all silver….silver is my choice when it comes to jewelry.  I love that this piece is so unique, but I also love that I can wear it with just about any outfit, whether dressy or casual. The back of each pendant is texturized with a gorgeous, yet still delicate, leaf type pattern. The only thing I might change about this pendant is the length of the chain, as I do prefer a longer necklace in most cases.You can purchase this gorgeous, handcrafted Roman Numeral Birthstone Pendant for $62 from The Pretty Peacock. Bracelets are one of my favorite items to wear, so I’d love to also see something like this in bracelet form. Be sure to Like The Pretty Peacock on Facebook. Jeep Overland Limited Jogging Stroller {Review}

Ever since Jaden was born, I’ve often wondered how a jogging stroller might do for us. We really like to walk for exercise (and sometimes I’ll jog or run), so it seemed like a natural fit to try one out.Kolcraft has created the Jeep Overland Limited Jogging Stroller, a stroller that is outfitted with some pretty awesome features. The look of this stroller is fierce, and I came up with that word before I even knew that’s how Jeep describes it.:) I do really love the color scheme (orange/gray/black), as it could work for either a girl or a boy. It’s a very “rugged” looking stroller, meaning it’s very sporty. This stroller has 3 soft-ride 16-inch tires filled with air. The front wheel is fixed, so it doesn’t swivel. In order to make turns, it’s necessary to push down on the handle to lift the front wheel up and turn. This was one feature I wasn’t sure if I liked or not….I really have to get used to this. It is meant more so for jogging, though, so I don’t really see us using this stroller in stores very much. Out on the open road/trail, it probably wouldn’t be much of an issue. It also has a convenient hand brake, which gives you control over how fast you’re going and if you need to stop.Being a tall person, I do like that the handle can adjust to various heights; I can’t tell you how much I love this feature in a stroller. I’ve had strollers before that were not adjustable, and by the time we’d get home, I was so tired from having to strain/bend to push that stroller around. The stroller is quite heavy at 27 pounds, but it does stand on its own when folded, making it easier to store.Ok, so how about that trip out jogging with your child? What can you expect? First of all, the seat reclines, so if it’s naptime, you can adust the seat back height to different positions, whatever is most comfortable for your child. It’s also got a 5-point safety harness, a safety tether, and reflectors if you’re out at dusk or after dark. Jaden is almost 4; it has a convenient step-up/foot rest that he can use to get up in the stroller, as well. Plus, it has cup holders for both mom and child. Not only that, but it’s got the IBaby sound system, which you can hook up to either your iPod or MP3 player, meaning your favorite tunes can be playing the entire time you’re jogging. For fitness reasons, one of my favorite features is the distance/speed odometer that tells me how far and how fast I’m going. It also has a large storage basket on the bottom, which comes in handy when out and about with small children, as there is always a ton of stuff to carry along. It does have a canopy for shade, but it doesn’t stretch over the child’s seat very far.Now I will say that our stroller had some issues, but Kolcraft was quick to work with us on the issues. It seems to be very wobbly, and we’re not sure why. It’s just not very steady, which would make me hesitant to put a small baby in it. Our son loves to ride in it, but the wobbliness does make me a bit nervous, so I’m careful to be with him at all times if he’s in the stroller.Interested in learning more about this stroller? You can find it on Amazon.com, Target.com, Babies “R” Us.com, etc. They normally retail for around $179.99. Be sure to Like Kolcraft on Facebook and follow @Kolcraft on Twitter.
