We are huge fans of The Laurie Berkner Band; we have been ever since Jacob was a toddler and used to dance around the living room to her songs on Noggin. We received her latest DVD that was just released on
September 28, 2010, Let’s Hear It for The Laurie Berkner Band!
This DVD is filled to the brim with music videos and is hosted by Nickelodeon’s Moose and Zee. There are songs, games, rhymes, and more that I have even caught myself singing off and on. The video is high energy with other children and lots of bright colors. Here is a listing of the songs available on this DVD:
- Who’s That?
- Victor Vito (one that’s really catchy for me)
- Five Days Old
- My Energy (this song is so fun and interactive with Jaden; we had to stomp our feet, clap our hands, thump our head, etc.)
- I’m a Mess (this song really applied to us today with a painting fiasco we had, in which Jaden seemed to paint himself and the kitchen table a nice, bright shade of green.)
- In the Clouds
- Pig on Her Head
- The Cat Came Back
- Farm Song
- I Really Love to Dance (another fun song for us which gets us groovin’.)
- I’m me and You’re You
- Sneaks
- I’m Not Perfect
- Rocketship Run
- Magic Box
- Fast and Slow
Jaden won’t necessarily sit through the entire DVD,
but it’s perfect to put on for those times when we might be coloring or putting a puzzle together or doing something hands-on that doesn’t require our complete concentration. That way we can listen and stop to interact when we want. Personally, as a mom, I love Laurie Berkner’s songs and videos. She’s got such an energy about her and a great way of interacting with kids, making the music fit their energy. She can be silly, but she can also be slower-paced and more serious with actual messages in her songs.
You can purchase Let’s Hear It for The Laurie Berkner Band! for $16.99 on their website. You can also catch up with the band on their website. Follow @LaurieBerkner on Twitter or Like Laurie Berkner Band on Facebook.
(Disclosure: I received a DVD, free of charge, from SKG Publicity and The Laurie Berkner Band, for the purposes of this review.)
