Lalaloopsy Sew Magical! Sew Cute! Review & Giveaway

This year I’ve really been introduced to some amazing toys….some that can do amazing things….some that teach amazing things….and some that you just know are special. Lalaloopsy is one line of toys that both teach amazing things and are toys that I can just feel are very special. Lalaloopsy really has that retro feel that takes me back to my own childhood, even though it’s a very chic, modern toy.

Lalaloopsy Sew Magical! Sew Cute! is yet another great toy manufactured by MGA Entertainment. They have introduced new characters this year, including even a boy Lalaloopsy, Patch Treasurechest. They also have a new movie coming to DVD in the spring of 2012. Lalaloopsy carries another great message for children and that is that it’s good to have diversity, to be different, to be yourself. They also carry the concept that everything that we can think of can be recycled and used again, leaving behind no waste. Just to tell you a little bit about a couple of the newer toys that have hit store shelves this spring….

Probably one of my favorite Lalaloopsy toys is Tippy Tumblelina, who was sewn on February 2 (each character is sewn on a certain national holiday). Tippy is a “rag doll” ballerina, sporting a pink, sparkly tutu. The box says that her personality is “Starry-eyed.” Of course, like the other Lalaloopsy characters, she was a rag doll before her last stitch was sewn, and that is when the magic happened, and she came alive. She carries the “Recycle,Reuse” message, as she was sewn from an actual ballerina’s tutu. With buttons for eyes and the cutest little ballet slippers, Tippy is just simply adorable. She also has a pet swan. I can imagine a little girl somewhere carrying Tippy around with her everywhere she goes. Since I don’t have a little girl, Tippy is going to someone very special to me, my friend Nancy’s daughter. I know she’s going to love Tippy. There is also a Lalaloopsy poster accompanying Tippy. Tippy Tumblelina is made “For ages 4 to 104!” You can purchase Tippy Tumblelina for $24.99 on Little Tikes; she’s also available at major retailers like Toys “R” Us, Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc. She really would make the perfect birthday present.

Then there is the world of Mini Lalaloopsy, inviting kids to play with little action figure like dolls and playsets. Peanut’s Spinning Ferris Wheel is another adorable toy made “For ages 4 to 104!” The ferris wheel itself actually spins and has three teacup seats that can hold 3 characters. It also comes with Mini Lalaloopsy Peanut BigTop doll. The ferris wheel is a little girl’s dream with pink, orange, yellow, red, and purple colors; it has button stars and hearts, polkadots, stripes, and is so cute. it even has little steps so that during pretend play, the characters can climb the steps to get into their car. It doesn’t make noise when spinning either, so it’s a quiet toy that will keep kids occupied for hours. The seats even have tiny seatbelts that stretch up over each Mini Lalaloopsy character. Kids can also download a map puzzle piece at Lalaloopsy.com. You can purchase Peanut’s Spinning Ferris Wheel on Amazon for $19.99. It’s also available at major retailers like Walmart and Target.

Girls with Moxie: Moxie Girlz Dolls Giveaway

Moxie basically means having a positive attitude with confidence, courage, and energy. That is the concept behind MGA’s Moxie Girlz.

Moxie Girlz are cute, stylish, fashionable dolls that are fun for girls to play with and style. I love the concept behind these dolls. These days especially, girls really do need a positive message, even from the toys they play with. It seems there are so many mixed signals for girls, especially when it comes to being true to themselves and who they are. Moxie Girlz is one toy whose message is loud and clear….that it’s ok to be different…. it’s ok to just be you, be confident, be positive….

There are a couple of new Moxie Girlz dolls out, one of which is Art-Titude 3D Lexa. This Moxie Girl actually wears her art in 3D form. Lexa has long, dark hair that is fun to style in and of itself. She also comes with an outfit that can be colored with the 2 markers also included. With 3D glasses (also provided), girls will be able to see what they’ve created in 3D form. Even without coloring Lexa’s outfit, she’s already stylin’, sporting a short purple jacket over a dress with leggings and a pair of cute sneakers. Not only can girls color her outfit again and again (because it can be washed off), they can also color their 3D glasses, making them fit their unique style. You can purchase Art-Titude 3D Lexa for $16.17 on Amazon; she’s also available at other retailers like Toys “R” Us, Target, Walmart, etc.

Another new Moxie Girlz doll is Summer Swim Magic Avery, who comes with several accessories, including swim flippers, a bathing suit, boots, a handbag, and even her own surfboard. Avery’s hair changes color when it gets wet, and her feet actually kick in the water. She has long blonde hair and a cute outfit, consisting of a pink shirt with dark shorts, as well as a vest. I’d have to say that she’s probably my favorite doll, probably because of the fact that she’s a surfer chick.:) (I secretly want to learn how to surf some day.) You can purchase Summer Swim Magic Avery for $19.97 on Amazon; she’s also available at other retailers like Toys “R” Us, Target, Walmart, etc.

These dolls are cute, and they’re more naive looking than the Bratz dolls, just to be honest; they just seem to have a softer appearance, in my opinion. They’re meant for ages 5 and up; I would have no issues with letting my daughter play with these dolls. They have a wonderful message, and they’re something I probably would have enjoyed playing with myself when I was little.

The great news is that MGA is giving two Moxie Girlz away on MamaBuzz. There will be one winner for this giveaway. You can enter to win by doing one or more of the following; just be sure to leave a separate comment for each way that you enter. I’ll draw the winner, via random.org, on Monday, May 9.
