More Than Meets the Eye for Halloween {Review}

Halloween is just a few short weeks away, and we’re feeling the fall chill. I’m so in the mood to decorate for fall now, plus the boys are already thinking about what they want to be for that one night of the year they get to ask friends and neighbors for candy and treats. Jacob’s all set to go, thanks to a great costume setup from Costume Express.Have you browsed around Costume Express lately? They have a variety of costumes and accessories both for children and adults. Their costumes are very detailed, so much so that you’ll even find 3-D choices….which is where we went with Jacob’s choice.Jacob chose to be Optimus Prime this Halloween; he’s trying to get Jaden to be Bumblebee, which Jaden hasn’t really chosen yet. However, Jacob makes an awesome Optimus Prime, thanks to this 3-D very detailed, colorful costume. The costume is made of polyester and comes with a plastic mask. It’s a complete jumpsuit with 3-D armor that is held in place by velcro. I was afraid that the pieces might flop around being partly fastened by velcro, but they actually stay in place well, if you’re sure to fasten the velcro correctly, in the right spots. We ordered the Large (10-12) size for Jacob, which fits him well but snugly….the legs are slightly short, but he has recently gone up a pants size as he hit a growth spurt late this summer, so it’s definitely not the costume….it’s just that my boy is growing up. The legs are plenty long enough and will look great with a pair of boots to complement the outfit. Jacob loves the costume, but he has commented that he has a hard time seeing out of the mask.We also ordered the Optimus Prime Child Gloves to go with the costume. The gloves are the perfect accessory to his costume, making it even more realistic.As for my opinion about the costume, it feels very durable, compared to other costumes we’ve gotten in stores in the past. I love the 3D effect, making it even more realistic for kids. It just adds a depth to the costume he normally wouldn’t have with just an ordinary jumpsuit costume. The costume comes in 3 different sizes, so it’s geared for several ages. You can get it in sizes 4-12.

You can purchase the Transformers Optimus Prime Movie 3-D Child Deluxe Costume for $49.99. You can also purchase the Transformers Optimus Prime Child Gloves for $6.99. The costume is spot clean, while the gloves can be handwashed (a good thing with kiddos). While I normally wouldn’t spend $50 on a Halloween costume….in fact, we sometimes try to make costumes….Costume Express offers quite an awesome selection of costumes you might not ordinarily find elsewhere. What are your kids going to be for Halloween?

(Disclosure: I received one costume w/accessories, free of charge, from Costume Express, for the purposes of review. All views/opinions remain solely my own.)

Butterfinger Snackerz Halloween Giveaway

Halloween is almost here; have you gotten all the candy you’re going to need for all those trick-or-treaters who will be showing up at your doorstep?  If not, then you might want to enter this awesome giveaway.  In fact, if you were to win this giveaway, you could be (not promising anything), but you could be one of the best houses on the block, in terms of candy….or you might not have any left for trick-or-treaters, if you’re like me.:)

I got to try Butterfinger Snackerz at Blogher ’10, and they are oh so scrumptious.  They’re really different from regular Butterfinger candy bars, in that they’re a bit softer, but they’re also really smooth and creamy.  They literally almost melt in your mouth.  They come in small pouches, and each Snackerz is bite-sized.  Inside they still have that Butterfinger crispy center, but on the outside, they’ve got peanut butter drizzled over them.  I honestly like them a bit better than a regular Butterfinger because they’re so small, and it’s easier to snack on a pack of these over a few days.  If I’m having a chocolate craving, I can just go grab one (although it’s hard to stop at just one).  Depending on how many you eat, though, a fun-sized pouch has about 8 Snackerz, which is a serving, and it’s about 150 calories.

You can find Butterfinger Snackerz at your local supermarket or discount store.  We are giving away 2 boxes of full-size pouches to one MamaBuzz reader! You can enter to win by doing one or more of the following; just be sure to leave me a separate comment for each way that you enter.  I’ll draw the winner, via random.org, on Thursday, October 21; that way you can hopefully receive your prize in time for Halloween.  This giveaway is open to U.S. only.  Good luck, and have a wonderful day!
